Debbie is an adult and young person psychotherapist and an accredited member of the NCPS. Her compassion, insightful approach, and experience enable her to use a range of therapeutic models to tailor therapy to suit the unique needs of the client.
She specialises in support for stress management, anxiety, grief and loss, depression, relationship issues, childhood trauma, anger, and bullying, and can support clients with the social pressures of modern-day society.
Debbie can offer clients an insight into the benefits of mindfulness and how breathing and grounding techniques can support a reduction in levels of distress as supportive tools both during and after therapy. Debbie has completed additional training as an EFT Practitioner, which is more commonly known as tapping therapy, which she can offer to clients to reduce the intensity of emotions
She feels the importance of working collaboratively with clients to assist with empowering them to lead the way towards their emotional growth and believes in the importance of the relationship between client and therapist if positive change is to be achieved. Debbie embeds all of her work with a person-centred approach, in addition to psychodynamic work to identify how past experiences or trauma, may be impacting clients in the present. She is also able to draw upon her experience as a cognitive behavioral therapist to support positive change particularly when incorporated with psychoeducation.
In addition to her private work, she supports young people in schools as well as supporting those with more complex needs. Previously she held the position of child protection lead for 16 years and continues to regard safeguarding as paramount. Debbie has worked with young people since 2006 in various roles and understands the link between challenging behaviour and emotions.
Debbie offers clients an initial free telephone or remote 15-minute consultation. You can get in touch via email or message debbie@debbiewilsontherapy.co.uk or 07368 813 477.
